November 2021 Sustainable Investment Update
Global policymakers, climate experts, and corporate executives converged in Glasgow in November for the UN Climate Change Conference, COP26. From fossil fuel phase outs to promises of funding for the developing world, it was encouraging to witness the growing sense of urgency that world leaders seemingly have for facilitating the climate transition. Equally encouraging was the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in the U.S. which includes explicit dollars earmarked for clean energy initiatives. In our view, however, the biggest hurdle remains shifting from intention to action, which will ultimately dictate the success of COP26 and the decarbonization efforts of President Biden. This month, we also highlight recent workforce challenges, EV supply chain concerns, and trends in ESG-linked compensation.
