September 2026 Market Review
September was a difficult month for US Treasuries, with yields rising sharply across the curve and driven primarily by the mid-September Federal Reserve meeting. Renewed escalation of Middle East tensions also pushed interest rates higher as crude oil topped $100 a barrel. Most fixed income sectors posted negative returns for the month, as spreads predominantly widened following the surge in interest rates and rate volatility. Global equity markets were also negative.
